Consistent Response
The magnitude of response obtained with the Charged Aerosol Detector for non-volatile analytes is less dependent on chemical structure than other technologies. This is demonstrated below where response by flow injection analysis is very similar for equivalent amounts of a wide diversity of analytes. Charged Aerosol Detector response does not depend on analyte optical properties as with UV, or the ability to ionize, as with mass spectrometry (MS). This is critical for studies dependent on mass balance assessment or where UV response varies greatly.
